What is Talk Business?
Talk Business is a place for small business owners, entrepreneurs, students of business or anyone interested in starting up a business to meet other like-minded people to grow your network, get ideas, inspiration, new connections, and discuss practical aspects of business. Plus you get to share how your month has been and get support if you need it.
Do I need to own a business?
Not at all. Our only requirements are arrive promptly, play nice, be engaged.
What does it cost?
$10 per session. No joining fee, no membership, no commitment. You can pay cash on the day or deposit to Academy Antique 02 0810 0004134 083, reference Your Name.
How many people regularly attend?
At present our meetings attract around 12-18 people.
Do you meet the first Wednesday of each month?
Yes! We were meeting weekly but monthly is a great balance and doesn’t require too much investment of time away from your business.
Will I get a chance to pitch my business?
Yes. Each meeting we have introductions, short sharp – who are you, what do you do – but we have one proper pitch each meeting, 5-7 mins.
This is designed to practice your pitch, enable others to learn from your technique and for you to get feedback on how you went – if you want it. The host is a former public speaking trainer.
I'm only starting out, is this for me?
I think this is an ideal place for someone starting out. There are experienced people who may be able to help you navigate any problems you encounter or lack of knowledge and the discussions provide excellent practical ideas and advice. Even experienced operators know the value of having a larger network of people to bounce ideas off or gain solutions from.
Does everyone have to talk?
Yes! You don’t have to say a lot but you will need to introduce yourself even if it’s just to say “Hi, I’m Sally and I’m interested in business” or “I’m Roger, I came along to see how you do things”.
Tipf you show something of yourself through you are more likely to be remembered, develop trust, and create stronger connections within the group.
